A 160-story residential skyscraper could become the second tallest building in the world
The architectural firm Rescubika Creation unveiled a proposal for a building in New York a 160-story residential skyscraper, which could become the second tallest building in the world, just a few meters behind Dubai's Burj Khalifa.
Surprisingly, the height is not the most impressive feature of the tower. The futuristic design features wooden building materials, along with 8,300 shrubs, 1,600 trees and another 83,000 plants. This living, organic matter not only makes an incredible visual statement, it also works to suck up carbon. The structure is also equipped with almost 2,000 square meters of solar panels and 36 wind turbines to produce clean energy.
To deal with the city's extreme climatic conditions, Mandragore, as he was baptized, would have a network of underground tubes to capture the air and circulate it throughout the building. The company also proposes the addition of a home office in each apartment to alleviate the need to travel and thus reduce emissions even further. Although Mandragore is just a concept at this stage, the building would certainly help New York City reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030.
