Those who know their Champagnes a little, know Armand de Brignac. The champagne house is known for its golden, silver and even rose-metallic bottles as well as the owner: rapper Jay-Z. Flashy stuff and marketing talk? No way: Armand is the real deal.

There are just as many opinions about Champagne as there are bottles. &nbsp;It is&nbsp;a misconception that you have to drink the divine drink from a flute or just in the NY eve.. More about that later. There are also some details to report about Armand de Brignac . The champagne house and family business has been around since 1763, so it&#39;s not Jay-Z&#39;s toy. It is a small house: only 18 people are involved in the production of Armand de Brignac. Every step in the process is pure manual work: from picking the grapes to polishing each bottle and applying the pewter labels. This is about quality and not about volume. Champagnes delives exceptional quality. The Cattier family lives on the Montagne de Reims and owns 33 hectares of vineyards, some of which are among the most acclaimed cru&#39;s in Champagne.

The appearance of the bottles can of course be called flashy . Each bottle of Armand de Brignac receives a metal layer and is provided with a tin label and polished by hand. Handicraft means that each bottle is unique, no one is the same. Then the different wines:

The golden bottle: the first champagne released by Armand de Brignac is the Brut Gold . It consists of an assembly of three very high quality grape varieties (40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier).

The pink bottle: Armand de Brignac Ros&eacute; is made with Pinot Noir from old vines, planted in the Montagne de Reims. (50% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay).

The silver bottle: the Blanc de Blancs is made in a very small edition and consists of 100% Chardonnay grapes.

The dark pink bottle: the sweeter Demi Sec has a relatively low dosage and a strong fruit flavor. Perfect with desserts. (40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier).

Not in the photo below, but very blue is the blue-gray bottle. This is the special Armand de Brignac Blanc de Noirs Assembly Two . Made from excellent fruit from some of the best Pinot Noir producing villages in Champagne. (100% Pinot Noir). There are only 2,333 bottles at the moment and each bottle has a unique number.

Oh yes: the&nbsp;glassware. We have a good tip for you from none other than wine celebrity Ronald Opten . He is Maitre d &#39;and sommelier at La Rive in the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, was once elected Sommelier of the Year and can call himself SVH Wijnmeester. According to Ronald, you do not drink Champagne from a flute or coupe, but from good, ordinary wine glasses. The Champagne comes into its own much better if it gets more space and oxygen. One more tip: experiment with the size of your glasses and the temperature of your Champagne. If you leave a cool glass for a while, the Champagne will suddenly taste different, for example much fuller or less sharp.
