Non-ecological, but the bath is making its comeback and explodes on Instagram, more glamourous and powerful than ever.

We say bye bye to the open-kitchen-insta-trend. Now it&#39;s all about the bathroom (open ones also) - the design of the bath, filled with water or empty. The bathroom selfie goes into high gear. After sharing their moments of relaxation, concealer patches under the eyes and towels on their heads (Heidi Klum, Rihanna), celebs are striking a pose in water and foam.

Anti-ecological as possible, even anachronistic and above all not politically correct, the bath is back in force. Welcome to the Bathfluencers , those who do not hesitate to stage themselves in a bath or to praise the virtues of this practice, however much criticized. We know that it takes between 120 and 200 liters of water to fill a bathtub, against 40 to 60 liters for a shower, or 4 to 5 showers for a single bath! Too bad they all seem to say at heart. You have to earn likes, whatever the cost.

A trend that returns since the bath has always been quite photogenic. We saw it a lot in the movies, on vinyl covers or in fashion and music magazines. We can recall Liberace, Jayne Mansfield, Maria Schneider in Last Tango in Paris or Giorgio Armani, photographed in black and white in 1979. But there is also Marylin and Tony Curtis in Some Like it Hot, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Elisabeth Taylor, even&nbsp;John Lennon and Yoko Ono&hellip;

So beyond its strong aesthetic potential, the bath has been since Antiquity but with moments of disgrace, an essential beauty ritual. Consumed cold by the Greeks, because associated with body exercises and hardening, it was the Romans who were the first to take it hot. They are also at the initiative of the thermal baths which become monumental and institutional places. It was not until the 1st century AD that the thermal baths, until then private, became public. In the 16th century the baths were neglected because they were not frequentable. Dangerous. It is the time of the dry toilet, the water formerly symbol of purity became vector of microbes and diseases. In the 18th century, the water gradually returned, but it got a bad press, accused of softening the flesh and the mind and weakening the body in general. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the bathroom became more democratic. However, in 1950, only 6% of dwellings were equipped with a bathroom.

Today, the question of daily washing no longer arises. Running water is in the majority of homes (90%). The division is rather around the shower and the bath. Who prefers what? Who supports what? And why? The ecological question becomes central. Even if no one can ignore the state of emergency of our planet and its resources, the power of the likes seems to take over. It is on Instagram that the hot bath overflowing with foam marks its return. Hard-core ecologists and bath fanatics can nevertheless agree on a compromise: return to the still alive tradition of cobathing, in Japan the Furo or the Hammam dear to North Africa and the Middle East, which adds the the pleasure of being together in hygiene and which the 70s had brought up to date with the fashion of shared bathing.

The trendiest beauty sites, The Cut and Into the Gloss, do not hesitate to make the bathtub the most coveted and desirable place of the moment. Emily Weiss, CEO of Glossier, admitted&nbsp;in a New Yorker article published on September 28, that she&#39;s taking a 45-minute bath almost every night, with hot water and two kilos of salt. &#39;Epsom, to sweat better: &quot;training without moving &quot;. Eva Chen, young mother, director of fashion partnerships at Instagram confides that she recently renovated her bathroom, and that she decided to put her bathtub in plain view, being part of her bedroom.

The stars, they go there from their beauty confessions, admitting without complex taking baths every night. Mariah Carey qualifies it as her favorite place for total serenity. She says she likes cold milk baths. We then think of Cleopatra, queen of ancient Egypt, who took&nbsp;donkey milk baths to maintain her beauty and the youthfulness of her skin. Even the actress and businesswoman Gwyneth Paltrow,&nbsp;known for a certain eco-lifestyle, declares to take baths with magnesium salt every day! The bath is therefore the new tocade of beautifull people in search of likes. Great self care trend of course, but a little too self. The best option is the one chosen by C&eacute;line Dion, a new surrealist fashion icon: pose in her ultra-stylish bathtub, fully dressed ... and without water!
