The roots for Maison Margiela's new co-ed collection lie in the study of tango. Observing the movements of the two step par excellence, John Galliano finds the maximum representation with the chivalrous cut of the silhouettes founded on the idea of anonymity of the lining.

For the second and final episode of SWALK directed by Nick Knight, he returns with the story of the creative process for the Spring Summer 2021 collection which involves the creative director together with Olivier Rizzo, Pat McGrath, Leon Dame and the rest of the Maison struggling for the realization in its totality. Everything emphasizes movement: formal jackets are deconstructed and shredded into dancing shreds of fabric, muslin and tulle dresses have a wet look, while the wet drapery technique is applied to the knitwear recreating tailored garments with illusory motifs, the dresses feature shots for to accentuate the movements, kntiwear is abstracted and added to lighter fabrics becoming almost a patchwork.

The concept of Replica is applied to the collection, which has always been part of the philosophy of the French Maison, which became ReCicla with Fall Winter 2021, to renew timeless garments and reinterpret the great classics. Recycled elements such as sweater, shirt and vest combined in a single garment, but also bags and shoes reinterpreted also in the pointed mary jane version and the slave sandals. The video also shows the inspiration for the launch of the new tuberose-based perfume for the 3 Fragrances Collection by Maison Margiela.

At Paris Fashion Week everything is interconnected and coexists in a continuous dialogue, from tango demonstrations, to the creation of garments, make-up and styling. This is the true essence of the Maison Margiela.
