Givenchy Spring Summer 2022

At the present time, surely all of us, including individuals who are less interested in the busy fashion world, are somewhat familiar with the name Givenchy after Kendall Jenner's appearance at the Met Gala 2021. Sparkling, gorgeous and on-topic are the keywords that are mentioned the most. For the Met, dressing well is one thing, dressing properly is another. Accompanying one of the hottest supermodels on the planet, Givenchy has excellently "solved the problem" when bringing the American fashion image that could not be more accurate. Right on the eve of Paris fashion week, we already know Givenchy is sure to be one of the most anticipated names.

Besides the brand itself, Matthew M. Williams - the newly appointed creative director in June 2020 - is also the subject of media attraction. Increasingly, we have to keep an eye on the encroachment of street fashion and current streetwear trendsetters with evidence that before joining the Givenchy family, Matthew was a co-founder of the company. 1017 ALYX 9SM. No one expected that 1017 ALYX 9SM would be able to make the Kardashian-Jenner supermodel's sparkling dress with stones, adding another "street-luxury" combination that makes the whole world anxiously wait.

That information is probably enough to make the majority excited and hopeful about what Givenchy will show in the future. For the Spring Summer 2022 collection, collaborating with artist Josh Smith, the French fashion catwalk in particular witnessed Matthew M. Williams with vibrant colors.

Right from standing behind 1017 ALYX 9SM, Matthew has somewhat impressed with the black color and metal details. As such, the show opens and ends with the most familiar we know about Matthew. Black color dominates the entire catwalk combining high-quality glossy leather, nylon and wool fabrics with indexes from 100s to 170s. The opening minutes make us inevitably think of the 1017 ALYX 9SM, adding femininity to the "old trend" peplum, while preserving the oversized silhouette, vertical cuts and double-layer collar for for men.

Besides, referring to Matthew M. Williams and 1017 ALYX 9SM, it would be remiss to ignore metal accessories. Back with Givenchy this time, Matthew's accessory system is somewhat simpler. They are small, subtle, and play a more supportive role than accentuating the entire outfit. Givenchy also brought a knotted necklace. If you follow Burberry's scandal with a "noose knot" hoodie these days, the accessory from Givenchy is also a similar version. However, Givenchy's application is different and fortunately escapes the sensitive gaze of the majority.

If only the familiar black color, the Givenchy show would not have been so impressive. By the middle of the show, the fashion journey began to shine through, from prints to materials and fabric processing techniques. “Me and Josh have very different aesthetic views. Josh is brighter and more dynamic with color. I have to admit, this is a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and explore new limits in my own fashion creation.”

So brilliant with the minimalist black color palette, we were really surprised to see Matthew under the Givenchy fashion house, playing and venturing with color gamuts. It is fortunate and also admirable that these creations bring Matthew to the public with a completely new image. A very experimental and effective collection from a young designer and a rising brand.
