Unveiled for the first time at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel last May, the collection made a stopover on the beach of the Faena Hotel, whose theatrical backdrop was designed by director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin. Between the cabanas and two-tone striped parasols, the red deckchairs responded to the silhouettes of this collection combining the worlds of motor racing and tennis with those of the Monte Carlo ballet, the casino and the Riviera.

A symbol of a tropical Riviera whose name is an invitation to set sail, Miami is a dream come true: its luxuriant vegetation and beaches sway to the cosmopolitan multiculturalism of the city, at the crossroads of American, Latin and Caribbean influences.
CHANEL&rsquo;s presence in Miami for this Cruise 2022/23 replica show is in keeping with the links that have existed between the House and America, from the 1920s* until today. Responding to an interest shown by the US press, Mademoiselle Chanel went there for the first time with her friend Misia Sert in 1931, at the invitation of Hollywood. She then travelled around the country and was greeted with great enthusiasm, an enthusiasm that was repeated with her 1954 return to the runway, hailed by the American press. It was in the United States, that Gabrielle Chanel received the prestigious Neiman Marcus Award in 1957.
Today, the organisation of the show in Miami is a way of celebrating the role of the Magic City in the collective imagination of the Cruise world. Since the first half of the 20th&nbsp;century, Miami has been a privileged home port for great voyages across the seas, and resonates with discovery and the&nbsp;art de vivre&nbsp;provided by these boat journeys. Miami, between two seasons, anticipates the sunshine, swimming and beautiful evenings at sea. Responding to the needs of those who craved winter sun, Gabrielle Chanel, herself a sea lover, liked to design supple, practical clothes. At the end of autumn 1919, she launched a collection that celebrated freedom of movement and the delight to be found in excursions out to sea. Mademoiselle sailed on various luxurious yachts including the Duke of Westminster&rsquo;s,&nbsp;Flying Cloud&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Cutty Sark, upon which she docked in Monte-Carlo. There she discovered the village of Roquebrune Cap-Martin, which would become home to her property&nbsp;La Pausa&nbsp;in 1928. In tune with the times, Gabrielle Chanel sensed the need for a lightweight, comfortable collection that lent itself to sunny destinations including the Riviera, Venice or the beaches of the Atlantic.
As soon as he arrived at the Creation studio in 1983, Karl Lagerfeld gave new life to this inter-season collection, giving it a dedicated slot on both the CHANEL and Fashion calendars. He transformed the cruise wardrobe into a collection in its own right, embodying real or imaginary journeys around the world: New York, Los Angeles, Venice, Saint-Tropez, Cuba, and a Paris metamorphosed into the epicentre of Ancient Greece. To reveal the CHANEL Cruise 2008/09 collection, Karl Lagerfeld stopped by Miami Beach, with its celebrated Art Deco buildings dating from the 1930s to the 1950s. The collection was presented by the legendary pool of the Raleigh Hotel, immortalised by Hollywood cinema, particularly with swimmer Esther Williams.
Forward-looking Miami has been reinventing itself since the beginning of the 21st&nbsp;century. In the city, a number of buildings signed by international architects echo the artistic identity of this resort and&nbsp;lieu de vie. The creation of Art Basel Miami, the American satellite of the prestigious Basel Fair, the opening of major foundations and contemporary art museums, and the role of the city in the American imagination all contribute to making it one of the leading cultural destinations on the continent. Neighbourhoods dedicated to creation have emerged, including the unmissable and luxurious Design District, where CHANEL inaugurated a 7,600m2&nbsp;boutique in December 2021, designed by architect Peter Marino, a long-time collaborator of the House. This is the House&rsquo;s fifth boutique in Florida after the one in Bal Harbour (Miami) and that of Palm Beach.

On November 4th&nbsp;2022, CHANEL will present a replica of the Cruise 2022/23 collection show &ndash; first unveiled on May 5th&nbsp;2022 in Monte-Carlo &ndash; on the beach of the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach. This hotel, open since 2015, is at the heart of the Faena District, completely renovated by Argentine entrepreneur Alan Faena. Its spectacular d&eacute;cor, by Australian director Baz Luhrmann, summons forth the golden age of Floridian Art Deco style viewed through a contemporary lens. The Monegasque red of the Monte-Carlo Beach is thus combined with a Florida swimming pool where two-tone parasols and deckchairs contribute to this sun-kissed connection.
Presenting the CHANEL Cruise 2022/23 collection here once again brings together the elegant and cosmopolitan ambiances of Monaco and Miami. Following on from those for the Monte-Carlo collection, directed by Sofia and Roman Coppola, the trailers for the collection feature a gang of girls against a backdrop of boat trips, sea swimming and motor racing. The collection moves from the Riviera to the shores of Florida, and the contemporary glamour of the silhouettes resonates with its legendary iconography: water sports, cars, walks in dawn&rsquo;s first waves, bathing in the sea and glamorous parties.

The CHANEL Cruise 2022/23 collection will be available in boutiques from November 8th, 2022 in the United States and November 16th&nbsp;worldwide.

CHANEL ambassadors Pharrell Williams, Lily-Rose Depp, Marion Cotillard, Caroline de Maigret and Phoebe Tonkin attended the show along with actresses Ella Balinska and Arden Cho, actor Andr&eacute;s Velencoso and musician Nile Rodgers.
The show was followed by a relaxed soir&eacute;e, feet in the sand, in a setting punctuated by generous two-tone striped sofas where guests watched a performance by Nile Rodgers &amp; CHIC. After performing their signature tunes, including&nbsp;Everybody Dance,&nbsp;I Want Your Love,&nbsp;Le Freak&nbsp;and&nbsp;Good Times, the band was joined on stage by Pharrell Williams for the track&nbsp;Get Lucky. The evening continued in the same space to the sounds of DJ Allie Teilz.
