L'OFFICIEL ITALIA: Over the years, you've gone from nude makeup to an extremely sophisticated, glam look with a hint of edgy, even bordering on punk...
FLORENCE PUGH: When I was a girl, I used to love that people would turn around to look at me, thanks to makeup that could be questionable. Now it's more polished, thanks to a team that I have absolute confidence in. Alex Babski is the best makeup artist I know and he's fantastic at using color, and Peter Lux, the hairdresser, is just great.
LOI: How do you do your makeup if you do it yourself?
FP: I concentrate on my eyes, make them as big as I can, and try to discipline very sloppy eyebrows.

LOI: Your favorite Valentino beauty product?
FP: Liquirosso, I use it on my lips, cheekbones and eyelids.

LOI: You exemplify body positivity.....
FP: I was raised by very confident women who never let outside pressures get in my way. It's very liberating. I've always been conscious of my body, self-love sometimes has to be enforced, but we have to be mindful of it.

LOI: You are very collaborative with Pierpaolo Piccioli. How are the outfits you wear on the red carpet created?
FP: Sometimes Pierpaolo creates a design right in front of me, sometimes we discuss it and say to each other "let's do something great". I really enjoy being part of the process. I have cried at his shows, I think his work is art in motion.

LOI: How important are makeup, hair, stage clothes to you to get into character?
FP: They help me a lot. During the filming of "A Good Man," I insisted that my character, who was in emotional distress, cut his hair because it's one of those things that people in pain do. The haircut turned out horrible, but it accomplished its purpose.

LOI: Is your most favorite dress to wear?
FP: I would have to name the lilac chiffon dress I wore to the Valentino couture show at the Chateau de Chantilly in July, because I danced for hours in it and enjoyed it so much.

LOI: What is your favorite color?
FP: Baby blue. With Pierpaolo, we rely on bright colors.
