Liina Stein Explores Feminine Duality in Historic Château Colbert
Fashion designer Liina Stein brought her vision of contrasting femininity to life in a recent editorial set at the magnificent Château Colbert in France. Known for blending romantic detail with confident structure, Stein used the château’s timeless atmosphere to explore the many ways womanhood can be expressed — through softness, strength, and everything in between.
Stein draws deep inspiration from French châteaux and their rich history and heritage. Her creations bridge past and present, and the Pompadour Room at Château Colbert proved the perfect setting to showcase designs that reflect the multifaceted nature of femininity. A romantic princess emerges in a delicate, blue floral-embellished gown and flowing silk dress, while a bold, charismatic empress takes shape in a powerful black ensemble — a bodysuit adorned with sculptural metallic leaves, paired with tailored trousers. Each piece is crafted with precision and care, embodying quiet strength and echoing the dual nature of Stein’s creative language.
The striking three-piece white suit, photographed outdoors beside a classical stone statue, merged historical elegance with contemporary sharpness. Both sensual and sophisticated, it was also a reminder of the vulnerability that often lies beneath perfection.
Originally built in the 17th century by Édouard-François Colbert, the château offered more than beauty — it brought depth and narrative to the collection. Through these contrasting looks, Liina Stein continues to explore what it means to be feminine today: powerful, poetic, complex, and timeless.
