FENDI celebrates its 100th anniversary in a summer capsule collection
In the FENDI Summer 2025 capsule, the house seems to open the curtain on the archival pages of its own history, while leaving behind it a bright prospect of the future. The occasion is a weighty one: the 100th anniversary of the brand. But instead of loud statements - a light breath of Italian summer, reminiscence of the past in a visual format and a very delicate dialog with modernity.
The collection is inspired by Karl Lagerfeld's legendary work for the Spring-Summer 1978 season and the short film that is now widely considered to be the first fashion movie ever made. On the screen is a tourist freely and cheerfully exploring Rome. The collection has the same feeling of festivity, lightness and sensual comfort. The color palette is as rich and fresh as Rome itself in July: from coral and terracotta to shades of lime, milk and sea wave. All shades are carefully “enclosed” in fabrics with airy texture, embroideries with marine motifs, light skirts and shorts, which seem to absorb the breeze from the Amalfi coast.
The details - in the traditional FENDI style - are impeccably executed. Silk embroideries, lace-devoré, jacquard fabrics with the FF logo, decorative elements made of shells and Cuoio Romano leather, deceptively reminiscent of denim. It's not so much about fashion as it is about the pleasure of touch and form, which FENDI speaks about in a particularly convincing way.
Special attention was paid to accessories. Peekaboo, Baguette and By The Way bags received new summer “faces” - made of raffia, embroidered and appliquéd. The new Summer Tote fits logically into the family of iconic models, continuing the line of practical but elegant everyday life. And the fun and playful FENDI Charms (in the shape of fish, jellyfish and sea amulets) complete the look without losing the irony.
The FENDI Capsule Summer 2025 collection is not exactly a retrospective, but rather a remembrance of the past translated into the language of lightness and modern design. A calm but lively testimony to the fact that 100 years is not an age, but an experience that can be worn freely.
