Introducing new creations of Gucci High Watchmaking
When Gucci opened a new watch laboratory last year, it was clear that the brand was redoubling its efforts in this area. Now the first timepieces created in the state-of-the-art Cortaillod workshop have been unveiled, combining groundbreaking innovation with the inimitable codes of the House of Gucci.
Leading the collection is the GUCCI 25H Minute Repeater featuring an intricate watchmaking complication that strikes different harmonious notes for hours, quarter hours, and minutes. Inspired by nature’s rhythms and geometric beauty, every minute repeater is handcrafted with its own subtle and unique tone, making each timepiece unique. The GUCCI 25H Skeleton Tourbillon continues the House’s focus on avant-garde watchmaking with three editions with a transparent sapphire glass case, while the newest line, Gucci Interlocking, fuses two emblematic complications—the flying tourbillon and jumping hours—in an eye-catching cushion shape case. Distinguished by 12 rotating precious stones encircling a central tourbillon, new interpretations of the G-Timeless Planetarium are presented in rich tones that reflect the beauty and light of each stone.
Gucci's signature minute repeater is featured in the Gucci 25H model with three miniature hammers that strike different notes for the hours, quarters and minutes. Instead of a traditional push button, the chime mechanism is activated by turning the bezel - an unexpected surprise. The architectural pattern on the dial is reminiscent of sound waves, and the new typography of the hour numerals is based on the shape of the double letter G. A flying tourbillon adds visual splendor to this sonorous masterpiece.
Sapphire cases have become a kind of hallmark of Gucci's haute horlogerie, and this year the 25H Skeleton Tourbillon has found the magic of transparency. Whereas previously the horizontal bridges and gearing of the movement were not conspicuous, they are now visible 360 degrees. The transparent cases continue to exemplify Gucci's manufacturing prowess, requiring skillful handwork to avoid breaking the solid material.
The debut Gucci Interlocking collection, inspired by the House's iconic code, combines two iconic complications - a flying tourbillon and a jumping watch. The Roman numerals - again in a style inspired by the eponymous line - leap forward every 60 minutes, emerging from beneath the smoky sapphire crystal to indicate the correct hour through an aperture. The minute hand moves along the periphery, hovering above a shimmering layer of aventurine that moves in sync with the oscillating weight. Together with the hovering tourbillon mounted in the minute repeater, the whole scene is a revolutionary dance performed in a new elegant cushion case.
Like the dancing ribbons of light of the Aurora Borealis, the G-Timeless Planetarium is a chromatic spectacle of pirouetting gemstones revolving around a central tourbillon. Fiery opals and garnets, sunny beryls, green peridots and tourmalines, tranquil topazes and tanzanites, luxurious amethysts and fancy pink rubellite - all their precious brilliance reflects off the new textured guilloche base, creating a mesmerizing effect. A diamond flower replaces the star at the top of the sky, giving the dazzling animation a different charm.
