Louis Vuitton launches high perfumery with a collector's bottle signed by Frank Gehr

After an already very sophisticated collection of perfumes which continues to expand, Louis Vuitton is embarking on the very particular adventure of high perfumery, with the nose of the house Jacques Cavallier Belletrud at the helm, and the architect Frank Gehry, to whom we already owe the futuristic design of the Louis Vuitton Foundation.

Louis Vuitton continues to impose its strength on the perfume market. While the house always unveils more iconic fragrances, it is now embarking on high perfumery , with a very exclusive collection called "Les Extracts". Since these iconic juices are to perfumery what haute couture is to fashion, it was necessary to bet for this collection composed of 5 fragrances for its launch, on key personalities of the house at the Monogram. On the juice side, we thus find the nose Jacques Cavallier Belletrud , who wanted to deconstruct the composition of the classic perfume: " I wanted to go where nobody goes. Reinvent the notion of extract by being contemporary. Putting light, to stretch the material, to lighten. Destructure the very architecture of the perfume. This is how the Collection of Extracts was born: five fragrances without a top, heart or base note. To reveal in each one, the quintessence of each family. "

On the menu? Five fragrances already collectors: Dancing Blossom, described as a "cascade of flowers": sambac jasmine, May rose, osmanthus and Indian tuberose are mixed there. Cosmic Cloud, an interactive dive of the senses: a journey towards the unexplored touched by the caress of musks, and punctuated by chocolate bursts of Tonka bean from Venezuela, patchouli, chypre, oak moss and bergamot. Rhapsody, a sensation of light brought by flowers, from Grandi florum jasmine to patchouli, including May rose and chypre. Symphony, like a fusion between heaven and earth, a sensory dive, the endless pleasure of absolute light, the radiant vibration of the leeward islands, the sweet spiciness of a fresh ginger zest in a bergamot cocktail, grapefruit and red berries. And finally Stellar Times, a subliminal journey through time to rediscover the splendor of the temples of tales, of these gardens embroidered with mosaics and marvelous fountains. Orange blossom mingles with vegetal amber and the leathery notes of Peruvian balsam.

To sign the design of the signature bottle of this collection, Louis Vuitton quite logically appealed to Frank Gehry , who is no longer presented, already at the origin of the futuristic architecture of the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. " I wanted to approach the project from a sculptural point of view. To bring something different to the perfume. It's not a finished geometric shape, it's just a movement. A visual movement with the added bonus of this ephemeral side. ", he explains of his work. Result? From the initial Louis Vuitton bottle designed by Marc Newson , Frank Gehry shifted the lines, stretching them. The gesture transforms the right of the case into an ellipse, models the curve, to the point of suggesting an arc, a transparent sail brushing against space. As for its dramatic cap, it is by taking an aluminum sheet and crumpling it like a cloth that the architect, who signs here his very first perfume bottle, covers the latter with an airy cap, polished to the hand, with inside, an LV seal. By twisting the original setting, Frank Gehry gives this travel object the allure of a nomadic theater scene.

The Les Extraits de Louis Vuitton collection will be available in Louis Vuitton boutiques and online from October 7, 2021.
