Han Jingjing. The New Face of Fashion
The heroine of our April digital cover, Han Jingjing, is a true child of the 21st century. She got her higher education at Stanford University, has released two singles as a singer and is preparing her first album. She is interested in fashion and tries herself in modeling. Constantly in search of herself, this charming girl talks to the the world about the things she cares about, such as the relationship between people and nature.
Jingjing was born in Haikou. She often says that her fiery and unrestrained personality is closely related to the environment in which she was born. A true millennium girl, born in 2008, she has "rebellious" energy and no fear of chasing her dreams.
At the age of four Jingjing dived into learing to play the piano, inspired by her mother. She participated in various piano competitions and achieved excellent results. Everybody believed that she should study at Music High School. However, Jingjing, took a brave decision: to go to study abroad and see a different part of the world. She made her way to the UK and with excellent academic results, seventeen-year-old Jingjing got accepted at Stanford University. Without any notice or announcements, on October 17, 2023, Jingjing released her first solo single " Monsoon (Ji Feng)" as her official debut work.
"Monsoon" is all about freshness: a healing tune, Han Jingjing's soft and clear voice tells a story about saying goodbye to the past, breaking through the constraints, and pursuing freedom with persistence. She told us that for her music she draws inspiration from fashion. It also means that at the age of 21, with her determination, her expectations and her enthusiasm, she will move into the next chapter of her personal growth. After the release of the adult single "Monsoon" in late autumn, she returned with her latest work, "The Burning Sea", on December 21st. "The Burning Sea" tells the story of a girl who fell into a dream, met a trapped dolphin, and struggled with self-doubt. Rescuing themeslves, the girl and the dolphin see the light together and are reborn. Han Jingjing also hopes to appeal to people and nature through this song, focusing on the symbiotic relationship between humans and animals. In addition to the remarkable content of the song, the lineup of the creative team of "The Burning Sea" is also extremely impressive. Well-known Producer and R&B singer Q.Luv is responsible for the production and the talented arranger Gold Child arranges the track. The whole song is ear-catching and the lyrics are sincere. The deep sea dream atmosphere created by future pop is entrancing.
Following the Paris Fashion Week in February, Jingjing continued to record new songs and shoot for magazines in China. She was lively and cute, bringing strength and laughter to everyone on set. The most impressive thing was the filming scene of Marie Claire. The hair artist said that Jingjing is comparable to a supermodel, and she thinks it’s cool to “go crazy” with Jingjing on set. On the day of filming, Jingjing made a statement that after releasing her third single, "The Solitude Serenade", that it feels both happy and harsh having it listened to by everyone working on the shoot. Jingjing’s goal this year is to create a visual album and to keep moving forward with an original intention and an endless learning through her music. Han Jingjing is like a little flower that has just bloomed. Let us wait and see what surprises this new entertainment and fashion figure will bring to everyone. Definitely a breakthrough.
How do you feel about being defined as a top student?
Being defined as a top student is a positive recognition, but I don’t want this definition to be the only criterion of self-worth. As for me, I want to hold a balanced perspective. Developing diverse interests and talents while continuing to learn and grow, maybe this way I can understand myself more comprehensively.
If you had not gone to study in the UK, do you think you would be different from who you are now?
I think I would be a little different! Because the education system in my country is completely different from the way foreign talents are cultivated. If I hadn’t gone to England to study, I may have embarked on the path of learning piano and then become a professional in classical music. Maybe the things I’m interested in will be related to modern times. Although the environment is very important, I think having a clear understanding and plan for yourself is still the most important of all!
Do you think it’s “weird” for science students to make music?
I think there is no fixed combination of life choices. The most important thing is to do what you like to do. Every subject is a service. It depends on your growth, development and future, I think it’s more interesting not to be too conventional.
You mentioned that your goal this year is to make an album. Can you share with us the concept of the album?
It is still in preparation. I have always said that I hope my music is visual and cannot be talked about. I am glad you are looking forward to it.
What do you think your fashion style is?
I don’t think I have a fixed fashion style. Beauty is diverse, so I might add some of my own understanding to express “cool” or "sweet". I’m still exploring more style and I hope to digest each look into my own.
What is your favorite fashion item?
I love hats! I think hats can be the finishing touch of a look. I have hats in many colors. Recently I have been wearing a pink hat, I think it’s cool and sweet and it puts me in a good mood for the day!
If you were to give this photo shoot a title, what would you write about it?
I would write "Character". I feel that I’m a different character in each shot but I’m still me in each shot as well. Every time I hope to give you some new visual experience and hope to continue to be fashionable!
